Dr Simon Wake BVSc

Head Veterinarian/Practice Owner

Dr Simon Wake (Simon) graduated from the University of Queensland in 1995.

He started his veterinary career in Rockhampton as a large animal vet and then went to the UK for eight years where he worked mainly with cats and dogs.

He has owned the practice since September 2008.

His aim is to promote healthy pets by prevention of illness and education of owners.

He has two slightly unruly dogs who manage to keep him busy whenever he isn't looking after the health of the area's pets.

Dr Hanneke Van Aartsen BVSc

Hanneke qualified in 1994 in South Africa and after working in South Africa for 3 years, moved to the UK where she worked full time in small animal practice for 8 years.

Hanneke came to Australia in 2005 and has lived (and worked) in Sydney, Melbourne and now Brisbane. She joined Wellpets in February 2014 as a part-time vet whilst studying a degree in (human) Sonography.

Hanneke is married with two people kids (Maylia and Karmi) and 4 fur kids - Teddy, the not-so-brave Cavalier, Butterball, the fierce and independant cat and Nibbles and Chubby, two very cute guinea pigs! She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but her greatest joy and the thing that keeps her breathing, is slobbery kisses and cuddles from her patients :)
